What does it mean to have a listing?
Listing on East End Experience is like listing on a computerized phone book but it is much more exciting. Each business can be in multiple categories and each business has its own dedicated page. If you are not familiar with these terms, read further.
The right side of the home page has a long list of business categories called a menu. A site viewer selects the category he needs and is brought to an alphabetical listing. Let’s use Lodging as an example. Click on Lodging and you will get an alphabetical listing of all the lodging establishments. If the viewer only wants to look at B&B’s he can limit his scope and just click on B&B’s. Note that on these pages the address and phone number is listed for each business, much like a phone book. But now technology comes into play.
Click on Red Barn Bed & Breakfast and you will come to its own dedicated page, that is, a page on the website dedicated just to it. The owner of this B&B was able to post a photo, write a description, post his hours, and give his own website’s address. Click on his website and you come to the fullest possible description of this business, its own personal website. As a contrast, click on A House on Newtown B&B. You will see that this business has no website of its own, but it does have its own dedicated page here on East End Experience where it can post information.
How much does this cost?
No fees are paid to East End Experience. Instead, a minimum donation of $50 to International Surgical Mission Support, Inc. is required. ISMS is a non profit group based in Southampton, and comprised of a team of dedicated medical personnel which includes a general surgeon, a thoracic surgeon, an orthopedic surgical staff, a plastic surgeon, an intensive care doctor, and an anesthesia and nursing staff. This year ISMS responded to the disaster in Haiti and has conducted surgical missions in Mexico, Honduras, Brazil, Peru, India, Vietnam, Nepal, Nicaragua, Zambia, and Haiti and Egypt.
ISMS pays all its own expenses, including airfare, housing, and food. It purchases medicine, medical supplies, diagnostic and surgical tools, and medical equipment which on most occasions, as in Haiti recently, are left behind. All of the money comes out of their own pockets or the pockets of their friends and families. ISMS estimates that it costs approximately $250 per surgical intervention and it screens hundreds of patients on each mission trip.
No funds come to East End Experience whatsoever. All donations are made directly to ISMS and 100% of donations go towards the medical mission. Nothing is used for administrative costs.
If your business has multiple categories into which it fits (for instance, if you are a caterer, restaurant, and event location), we hope you will donate more than the minimum. Are you ready to list?
First things first! Please go to www.ismission.org to make your donation. You can do so on the internet by credit card or PayPal. You can also mail in your donation if you prefer.
Once you have made your donation, come back to East End Experience.com, click on the menu item “Get Listed” and scroll down to Register Now”. From there you will be given step by step instructions.
We hope you recognize that listing on East End Experience makes good business sense. It is inexpensive and you can declare your donation as a charity or as advertising.
